You can also increase your chances by…
Posting your photo to the Sunglass Hut facebook page and send Sunglass Hut the link to your blogpost via your twitter account and whichever hashtag applies:

#BryanSunglassHutJHB for Jhb
#BryanSunglassHutCT for Cpt.
Winners will be Announced at Mid Day Monday 29 Aug.

Can’t wait!

You should get yourself a copy of the May Cosmopolitan mag - you’ll see me perched in a bauble, clutching my iPhone (and pointing to a fellow TQ’s shoes no doubt) in the Cosmo Queens of Twitter feature. We had such a lot of fun on the shoot, a big thank you to the team who made it so. LOVE those leopard print heels – they’re Zoom if you’re wondering. Jeans are Levi’s Curve ID. Sparkle top is from Slate. Makeup done by SLKaye.

I can just imagine how this conversation went:

Perez Hilton: OMG I’m gonna be presenting an award to Lady Gaga at the NextNowNext Awards, I MUST get Mugler to dress me or I will DIE!!!

Phone rings.

Thierry Mugler: Hello?

Perez Hilton: OMG I’m gonna be presenting an award to Lady Gaga at the NextNowNext Awards, you have to dress me or I wil DIE!!!

Thierry Mugler: Who is this?

Perez Hilton: Perez Hilton? The famous well-known celebrity blogger?! OMG don’t you know who I am I will DIE!!!

Thierry Mugler: Okay sure I’ll dress you. I’ll make sure to show off your best features and hide your worst ones.

Just a few snaps from the Cosmo “Queens of Twitter” shoot that happened this morning. It was an honour to be shot with some fabulous twitter personalities, including @laurenbeukes, @styleguideCT, @liezelv and @texxonfire. They dressed me in this fab spangled jacket from Slate, Levi’s Curve ID jeans and these sky-high leopard print heels. Rawr.

The shoes I'm wearing on today's shoot - fierce!! #COSqueens

Pictured below is @StyleGuideCT mid-shoot, checking out her pics

and with makeup artist extraordinaire @SLKaye after she’d made me pretty :)

It was a lot of fun. The Cosmo ladies are great. I’ll give you guys a heads up on which issue it will be in.

CTG exclusive: we talk blogging & Birkin Bags with Kim & Khloe Kardashian

keeping up with the Kardashians

So back in December Brutal Fruit brought Kim & Khloe Kardashian to South Africa to launch their new flavour, the deliciously delightful Cheeky Cranberry (click here for CTG’s coverage of the launch party), and we were thrilled to be invited to come and chat to the two entrepreneurs. Kim & Khloe were great fun, and we chatted about all sorts of things, including blogging (they both use Y-Frog for images), one-shoulder dresses (Kim & CTG are both big fans it seems), Birkin Bags (Khloe had just got a gorgeous purple one from Lamar) and this hilarious Ninja-turtle-themed Kardashian family Christmas photo I dug up:

We’ve finally got our act together and are thrilled to be able to show you the interview. With much further ado, here’s the tape. Like a pro, CTG manages to mess up within the first 5 seconds of filming. Anyway, enjoy!

Special thanks to Shaun Blomkamp for filming and editing.

Marie Claire Naked Issue

Hurricane Vanessa posted some previews of the Marie Claire Naked Issue, coming out next Wednesday 16 February. We’re in it along with two of our favs – Kim Gray and PopYaCollar’s La Muse. We had great fun shooting this – we actually shot it twice! And we had a very enthusiastic car guard watching our, um, cars. The doggy in the pic belongs to photographer Mark Cameron, and her name is Viva. She’s husky cross Golden Retriever, and just the sweetest thing ever. Just look at those fluffy paws. The Marie Claire Naked Issue is in aid of the SPCA, and since we are a HUGE fan of beasties here at CTG (whippet updates, Cape Town Cat), we’d love it if you supported it.

getting ready for the most anticipated party of the year

14 Dec 2010, Posted by Cape Town Girl in CTG recommends, Celebrity, Parties, bloggers, cape town, cool websites, weblebrity, 14 Comments

So by now everybody knows that CTG’s cooler of choice, Brutal Fruit, have brought the one and only Kim Kardashian out to launch their new flavour this week – Cheeky Cranberry. We are very very excited here at CTG, since K-Dash is a personal heroine of ours. For those of you who still think she’s a reality star who ‘lucked out on a sex tape’, let me enlighten you. Kim Kardashian turned what could have been something embarrassing and exploitative into a multimillion dollar empire, and she is widely regarded as one of the key best-practice case studies in social media (yes, I used marketing speech now, will do 30 hail Kim Kardashians as punishment). Her blog is the biggest celebrity blog (over 40 million hits a month), and she produces her own perfume, owns a clothing store and designed a range with Bebe and her sisters and she also has designed a range of jewellery, shoes and has produced a fitness DVD. She also does a HUGE amount of work for AIDS charities – lots of respect. Check out her bio here. Really, if any of the couch critics had half the drive (brains, talent, and dare I say it, looks :P) she does, they’d be off the couch, building their own empires.

I like Kim Kardashian because she’s capitalised on her situation, which is the opposite of being a victim. Save us from the victims. Victims include bitter-sounding men and women who roll their eyes at a younger, prettier woman capitalising on their situations (situation may include being genetically blessed). If you could do it, you would too, so best we all find what makes us a special snowflake, and refrain from possibly resenting people who have the balls (butt, boobs…) to achieve what they want ;)

Kim we can’t wait to party with you! Welcome to SA. See you Friday!
