Chatted to Ndoni from eTV’s Tech Report on Monday morning about online shopping in South Africa, what companies are doing well, what they could be doing better. I always think after every TV interview that I’ve just babbled on and on and not made any sense. This interview was no different but the crew were super fun, and thanks to them for having me.
An aside: TV is awesome because they do your makeup all stagey and make your hair all pretty and you get so glammed up, but it’s for like fifteen minutes of filming. If you’re like me you think it’s a shame to wipe all this hard work off, so you go to lunch looking like a transvestite that hasn’t been home yet. Good times.
Love this tribute to Steve Jobs from Charly’s Bakery, capetonian baking legends. This is a very sad day here at CTG. We are all huge Apple crazies. We’re gonna miss u Mr Jobs.
Speaking of Charly’s Bakery – have you seen, they’ve made a reality show out of life in the bakery called Charly’s Cake Angels! Looks hysterical!
Looks like Clifton Shores will be coming out any day now. Here’s the promo. What do you think? I’m a little skeptical that this looks like a bunch of ditzy over-blondes fighting over a very average bro who runs a concierge company. That’s just not a terribly believable plotline. But hey, maybe they have some surprises in store for us. I’ll be watching!
****UPDATE****
According to my sources Clifton Shores has just begun editing so it’s going to be a while before it’s on TV. So… Planting the corn that I will harvest to pop to eat while watching. (thanks Jimmy)
When BH 90120 first came out, I wasn’t really allowed to watch it. This Rolling Stone cover came out in 1992, which would have made me… 9 years old. But I watched it anyway. I used to hide behind the potplants at the entrance to our lounge after my parents had sent me to bed (no jokes). The BH kids always seemed so glam compared by my little life on the prairie in Worcester. Kidding, didn’t grow up in Worcester. I grew up on the slopes of Clifton 2nd, which is a bit like Worcester (in that you have to get into a car to find macarons, completely unlike Gardens).
Anyway, I have much loyalty to 90120, and my heart welled with warmth when Pepe Jeans sent me all this old footage of Jason Priestleytalking about acting and life and art, obviously a part of an advertising campaign they were doing at the time. I was actually way more into bad boy Dylan (on the left on Rolling Stone cover) rather than Jason’s character Brandon, but I was 9 and foolish and have subsequently learnt that nice guys make the best boyfriends and that bad guys who seem really exciting because they stay single forever actually stay single forever because they don’t really know what to do with women. So have graduated onto Jason. There is something so James Dean about all this footage – love it! Click here to watch it for a nostalgic rush – you won’t be able to fight it.
Some interestings facts about Jason Priestley:
- he was born in Canada (land of the Beaver!)
- he has a twin sister called Justine
- he dated Shannon Doherty (uh, duh)
- he drives race cars and often commentates on ABC’s indiecar racing
in the new season as Blair and Serena FEED each other macarons. Really – do you need any more proof of the power of CTG (ja you just remember where this whole macaron thing started).
