We don’t normally do this, but we’d like to give a special shout-out to Vince from North Carolina in the US of A, who is a General in the Corps Marines (in which he’s been serving for 12 years now). We hear Vince recently came to South Africa for a holiday, and that he loves it. A little birdie told us that he quite likes reading CTG, too.Well, we’re sending the love right back at you, Vince! Please give little Sophia Grace a big hug and a kiss for us, okay? She is just too beautiful. When she’s a bit older, we’ll take her out and show her how to be a CapeTownGirl ;) Thanks for reading CTG, we appreciate your support.
We had a great summer. Apart from The Great Separation when PD was in Dubai and LA was in Japan, we spent a lot of time on the beach. We got a lot of sun, and we swam. We discoveredPiz Buin Active Spray, which is non-sticky and doesn’t come off when you sweat (discovered that while running with it on – if you’re into outdoor exercise you’ll know how important this is, and how suntan lotion in the eyes can make you cry like a baby – not attractive). We read some great books – Born To Run and Up In The Air – dedicated reviews to come. But for now let’s just do a bit of a beach round up.
Glen aka the 'Surfer's Beach'
Glen again. Or Llandudno? It becomes a beachy blur...
PD sent through some of what she is ‘dealing with’ right now over in the shopping mecca that is Dubai. Allow me to share. Above would be the Giorgio Armani hotel – everything about it is ‘pure Armani’. Yes, we like Dubai. It’s like a huge beach with shopping malls all over it. What’s NOT to love?
Above is a restaurant called Switch. It’s designed by hipster designbro Karim Rashid. Strange. Pretty.
Shoes… yes.
Loads of natural shopping mall beauty.
Shoes. Yes. Yes, again.
Skyline…
“Is this a Lanvin I see before me????”
Madonna. I’d expect nothing less. Sad it’s come to an end. We like it here. We want to stay. I’ll be posting more of PD ‘Postcards from Dubai’ over the next few days.
This is officially my first post on CTG;)
Hi, my name is PDand I like good music.
Just heard one of the best bands to emerge from South Africa in the last ten years is coming home for a few shows this December. Civil Twilighthave been in The States for the last few years and have built quite a name for themselves, it is now time for their home crowd to enjoy.
They’ve confirmed a show on the 29th December at The Assembly. Tickets are available here.
There is also a rumour of another show or two, so keep your eyes open.
Till then I hope you are all enjoying this great weather. Accu weather said it was going to rain today, but I guess not. So us three CTG’s are going to be running on the mountain this eve. I hope ya’ll get out there too.
