CTG has a special mention today…

We don’t normally do this, but we’d like to give a special shout-out to Vince from North Carolina in the US of A, who is a General in the Corps Marines (in which he’s been serving for 12 years now). We hear Vince recently came to South Africa for a holiday, and that he loves it. A little birdie told us that he quite likes reading CTG, too. Well, we’re sending the love right back at you, Vince! Please give little Sophia Grace a big hug and a kiss for us, okay? She is just too beautiful. When she’s a bit older, we’ll take her out and show her how to be a CapeTownGirl ;) Thanks for reading CTG, we appreciate your support.

Much love, CTG, PD & LA

the best of the seaside this summer

We had a great summer. Apart from The Great Separation when PD was in Dubai and LA was in Japan, we spent a lot of time on the beach. We got a lot of sun, and we swam. We discovered Piz Buin Active Spray, which is non-sticky and doesn’t come off when you sweat (discovered that while running with it on – if you’re into outdoor exercise you’ll know how important this is, and how suntan lotion in the eyes can make you cry like a baby – not attractive). We read some great books – Born To Run and Up In The Air – dedicated reviews to come. But for now let’s just do a bit of a beach round up.

Glen beach right now

Glen aka the 'Surfer's Beach'

It's a tough life

Glen again. Or Llandudno? It becomes a beachy blur...

The end of Sea Point Promenade towards Bantry Bay

Gloomy beauty sea sunset

This gloomy beauty was taken in Hermanus.

Quite pretty here

And this splendour is Pringle Bay.

I think it’s safe to say we ‘won at summer’.

We’re back!

And it feels good! Tales of holiday to follow. And a whole lot more. Stay tuned.

PD’s postcards from Dubai

15 Dec 2010, Posted by Cape Town Girl in BFFs, PD, architecture, holiday, travel, 1 Comments

PD sent through some of what she is ‘dealing with’ right now over in the shopping mecca that is Dubai. Allow me to share. Above would be the Giorgio Armani hotel – everything about it is ‘pure Armani’. Yes, we like Dubai. It’s like a huge beach with shopping malls all over it. What’s NOT to love?

Above is a restaurant called Switch. It’s designed by hipster designbro Karim Rashid. Strange. Pretty.

Shoes… yes.

Loads of natural shopping mall beauty.

Shoes. Yes. Yes, again.

Skyline…

“Is this a Lanvin I see before me????”

Madonna. I’d expect nothing less. Sad it’s come to an end. We like it here. We want to stay. I’ll be posting more of PD ‘Postcards from Dubai’ over the next few days.

“Where are my Choo’s?”

27 Oct 2010, Posted by PD in PD, book club, fashion, shoes, 0 Comments

If you are wondering about what to read poolside this summer

I have a great suggestion;)

The Jimmy Choo Story

by Lauren Goldstein Crowe & Sagra Maceira de Rosen.

It tells the story of how Jimmy Choo shoes made it into the world of LVHM, Gucci, Prada etc

Without being more than 5 decades old through amazing PR stunts

How a humble Malaysian called Jimmy started making shoes for Princess Diana and hooked up with London ‘It girl’ Tamara Yeardye

I usually prefer non-fiction and CTG and LA often tease me about my strange taste in books, but this one I think is a great combo of

Love, scandal, fashion, seeding, celebrity, power, intrigue and, above all, a never give up attitude.

But I must give a WARNING with this book

You will want to buy….drumroll a sexy pair of JIMMY CHOO’s

I have my eye on a pair that will only end up in my possession if Venus, Mars and the Sun all align under the Xmas star

Zef is THE new black!

I hate to admit this cause my world is usually

filled with beautiful things like

Watkykjy cleaned up at the blog awards.
Die Antwoord are going on world Tour.
Jack Parow’s ‘Cooler as Ekke’ is getting even BIGGER

We can not deny it any longer!

Soon this ZEf thing will hit the fashion runways

And we will all be rocking Yo-landi Vi$$er style mullets!

Then in twenty years time we will look back on our tagged images on Facebook

And think to ourselves WTF* were we thinking.

That’s is the price we pay for being trendy.

So lets embrace this trend

Raise our lattes to ZA starting a global trend

And us ‘poppies’ considering getting our hair cut.

For now here is a cool new label that has popped up… Zef Leopard

I am sure some of the CTG followers boyfriends wouldn’t mind one of these;)

Civil Twilight- Not ed and bella, but it’s close!

19 Oct 2010, Posted by PD in PD, music, things to do, 6 Comments

This is officially my first post on CTG;)
Hi, my name is PD and I like good music.

Just heard one of the best bands to emerge from South Africa in the last ten years is coming home for a few shows this December. Civil Twilight have been in The States for the last few years and have built quite a name for themselves, it is now time for their home crowd to enjoy.

They’ve confirmed a show on the 29th December at The Assembly. Tickets are available here.

There is also a rumour of another show or two, so keep your eyes open.
Till then I hope you are all enjoying this great weather. Accu weather said it was going to rain today, but I guess not. So us three CTG’s are going to be running on the mountain this eve. I hope ya’ll get out there too.
