Just a few fantasy-triggers for those of you at work. Some scenes from recent times at a secret beach.

Think granadilla lollies and spring water that has gone warm because it’s too hot and a heat warning sign on your iPhone.

Everyone squashed up close as the tide comes in

Another dip in paradise? Don’t mind if I do.

End it all off with a nap under the trees.

Just getting in the mood for joining PD in St Tropez. Pretty hey? It’s called a Riva. And they’re handcrafted pieces of beauty.

Mmmmm. Leather seats, lacquered, hand-worked wood… Nice gift for a dad who’s already got the bottle of [ your premium whisky brand here] yes?

Super pretty. Below is Bridget Bardot taking ‘the junior’, one of the smaller models, for a spin.

PD is currently chilling between St Tropez and Italy at the moment, enjoying a little summer time. She sends these pics, talks about pasta a lot and says she “keeps bumping into Jamie Foxx and Paris Hilton while out shopping”. How awful! Gonna be joining her soon for some poolside lazing, volleyball and copious amounts of eating great food.

A week ago I was in the Natal midlands for a mini-getaway and wedding. Have you ever been there? It’s beautiful. We stayed at a place called Beaconvlei, which has cottages set around a lake. You can also paddle on a boat on this lake, if you manage to overcome the paralysis that hits you due to the sheer beauty of the place.

The long autumn shadows inspired cartwheels:

The view (below) is from Blueberry Hill, a gorgeous converted barn that is a food shop. I recommend the breakfast and the coffee.

The wedding was at Michaelhouse School, which is prettier than most Ivy League campuses, and naturally where CTG’s son will go (because boys need boarding school in the country).

Miss you a week ago. Miss you midlands.

As winter arrives, what better excuse to get on a plane and find some summer? Majorca, darling, or Marrakesh. Perhaps a spot of Cannes. So don’t pack away those kaftans just yet. And why not pick up a pair of Espadrilles – imported from Spain – for only R99 - from dealio? If you feel me, you’ll feel me. Click here.

Went on a little trip up North to ‘get some perspective’. And by perspective, I mean, meet some cool people, drink Johnnie Walker Black and go to cool places. I’m never fond of leaving the city bowl, but my fellow Capetonians, JHB isn’t so bad, if you know how to do it. Stick with me kids.

Went to a Khaya FM Johnnie Black Jazz Party at Katzy’s. Love Katzy’s – it’s a jazz bar in the old school tradition at The Firs in Rosebank. Definitely a repeat venue for dinners and casual drinks for future Joburg trips.

Had lunch at Sofiatown restaurant in Newtown. Spotted this Nike Run Your City wheatpaste / social media campaign. Apparently one was done in Cape Town, but in Woodstock, so I never saw it. Not sure who runs through Woodstock. Would be far too cumbersome carrying pepperspray and a tazer.

Went to Neh! in Alexandra. It’s a 3-story restaurant / bar / club that looks out over the township. Loved the VIP areas - all Courvoisier and Hennessy and purple velvet and Veuve.

More of the Neh bar. A CTG-approved selection.

Wearing leopard print harem pants and sipping a glass of Johnnie Black at the Katzy’s party.

Spotted this poster at Kospotong in Newtown – love it. Love the ‘Hayibo Tokoloshe’ caption too!

Stayed at the Da Vinci hotel across the road from the Sandton Convention Centre. It’s got a great vibe – all black and white and silver. Great for a girls weekend, for future reference. Thanks for having me Joburg, it was fab.
Has started. I have evidence. Exhibit A:

Exhibit B:

Do we really need more proof??
Go to the beach.
Now.

PD sent through some of what she is ‘dealing with’ right now over in the shopping mecca that is Dubai. Allow me to share. Above would be the Giorgio Armani hotel – everything about it is ‘pure Armani’. Yes, we like Dubai. It’s like a huge beach with shopping malls all over it. What’s NOT to love?

Above is a restaurant called Switch. It’s designed by hipster designbro Karim Rashid. Strange. Pretty.

Shoes… yes.

Loads of natural shopping mall beauty.

Shoes. Yes. Yes, again.

Skyline…

“Is this a Lanvin I see before me????”

Madonna. I’d expect nothing less. Sad it’s come to an end. We like it here. We want to stay. I’ll be posting more of PD ‘Postcards from Dubai’ over the next few days.

Spent Saturday baking and icing Christmas Cookies. Went for a teal, dark pink and white colour scheme. The fruits of my labour above. :) Also put up Christmas tree and bought Christmas gifts and put up Christmas lights. So basically ‘Christmas is a go’.
Went for lunch with Dave at Sotana – the new restaurant where Bravo / Bravado used to be. Very chilled and pleasant atmosphere. We had lamb burgers and chicken salad.

Spent the rest of the day on Llandudno beach. Swam. Tanned. Tried out Piz Buin’s ‘Tan Intensifier’. It’s got SPF 30 but says it ’stimulates melatin production’? Well I’m now brown enough to walk along the water’s edge without feeling like I’m blinding everyone else on the beach, so it definitely works. I’d show you my tummy but it’s Monday and I’d like us just to move slowly this morning.

Llandudno in all its summer glory. Perfection, despite the icey water. And then woke up this morning to Lion’s Head positively STRUTTING:

Wonderful weekend. Hope yours was too.
