Everyone’s been going a bit crazy over the Durex parties. This could be your night on Friday night at St Yves beach club in Camps Bay: Get the party going in one of the themed product chill rooms: relax for a massage in the warmth room or sip on cocktails while fire dancers turn up the heat. If guests can’t take the pace, the Play Tingle Chill room will cool you down. Guests looking for refreshment can make their way to the bar and enjoy Play Cherry or Play Pinacolada cocktails while getting down to the sounds of Goldfish, Crazy White Boy, Roger Goode & Gareth Cliff. It’s almost too much for one evening isn’t it?
If this sounds good to you and you’d quite like a double ticket to the EXCLUSIVE FRIDAY NIGHT event (the others you can buy tickets to, but not this one), justleave a comment below naming two flavours of Durex Play (you’ll find them somewhere in this blog post, except in their cocktail form) or mail me at editor@capetowngirl.com. Winners will be drawn and contacted on the Thursday night.

Loving the new Spring colour palettes Elizabeth Arden sent through. Lavenders and teals and bronzes. Been testing them out all week – go ask if you can have a spring makeover at Edgars. And the packaging is so lovely – all flowery for spring.
MEJ and I went to the launch of the new faces of Estee Lauder. See the girls above and below.
If you’ve ever been to a Lauder event, you’ll know that they’re always extremely elegant affairs and the most beautiful venues, and this one was no exception. It was held at the iArt gallery in Loop Street.
Marketing Manager Lulu telling us how beautiful we all are (she is too kind).
The beauty industry can sometimes seem very shallow. I like Estee Lauder though because they bring it back to the truth, that beauty is all about how you express who you are inside. You leave events like this feeling, well, very beautiful. Thanks for hosting us ladies. Can’t wait to try out the new Idealist Skintone Illuminator which will apparently be in stores in August.
PS. Have you tried the classic Lauder fragrance ‘Beautiful’? You should. It’s right up there with Chanel No 5.
Went to the relaunch of DKNY’s classic fragrance last week. I’m a big fan of DKNY. Everything about the brand just screams New York Chic, and the venue of the relaunch did too. The scent is one of the old classics, and it’s great that they’re doing a relaunch because I think some may have forgotten about it. But if you know your fragrances, DKNY for men and women is right up there with D&G Light Blue as a clean and timeless scent.
For those of you who didn’t know, the models in the image are a real life couple, and the last models were also a couple in real life. I love that there’s a story behind this picture.
More of the fabulous launch venue – a penthouse in the inner city.
Stark lines and shadows and sparkles
Oysters, champagne and a fresh, inspiring fragrance - what a lovely way to spend an evening. We were treated to a brief history of the brand, as well as DKNY Be Delicious, the summer version of the DKNY fragrances and DKNY Pure. If you’re a fresh fragrance fan, the DKNY scent range is sure to appeal to you. To celebrate the relaunch, DKNY are holding a competition with News Cafe - Click here to find out more. You could win some awesome DKNY stuff, as well as tickets to some great parties. Click here to like the DKNY South Africa page to keep up to date with DKNY happenings. Also listen out for the DKNY competition on 5fm. DKNY mania ladies!
PD & I attended the launch of the Shinso Skincare range at CTG’s much-lovedReyJeane Spa & Salon.Shinso is a Japanese product that’s been heralded as a ‘facelift in a bottle’, and all of Cape Town’s prettiest ladies were out in force. Shinso creator, Nao Tsuruta, flew out from Japan especially for the occasion and was giving trials of the Shinso Mist. It’s made using not one but two ingredients that got their creators Nobel Prizes when they were discovered (read more here).
Once we’d eaten our fill of oysters and champagne, we got half our faces sprayed with the mist so we could see for ourselves the effect. It definitely made our skin feel tighter, as if it had been a little pulled back. And super soft too. You can buy the products from ReyJeane Salon. Check out some Before & Afters here.
D&G Cats’ Eyes from Sunglass Hut: Check.Wear them indoors all day and annoy everyone around you for being ‘one of those people’. I don’t care. I’m in too much pain.
Double Skinny Latte from Vida: Check. Take small sips continuously over course of the morning. Annoy everyone around you with your slurping sounds. Doesn’t matter because everyone’s already annoyed at you for wearing shades at your desk.
Spray La Mer’s Mist all over face in bid to ‘feel fresh’.
Smother skin inElizabeth Arden’s Prevage Serum to smooth out pillow lines on face (due to combination of extreme dehydration and falling face down into bed).
Clinique Supermoisture Foundation: Check. Hide that tell-tale red face.
Pop 4 x Natrodale Milk Thistle in the hopes that doubling the dose will make up for not taking it the night before, like I should have.
Fake smile: Check. Hoping it ‘turns real’ any second now…
LA & SB hit up the Table Bay hotel for a super glam VIP breakfast to celebrate the opening of the new Estee Lauder, Clinique, La Mer and Bobbi Brown beauty counters at Edgars V&A Waterfront last week. The food was delicious and it was a great networking event – everyone in beauty and beauty blogging was there.
The girls got their makeup done, they got to sample gorgeously indulgent La Mer products and enjoy the brand new beauty counters, all before anyone else.
And they walked away with some fabulous goodie bags filled with Bobbi Brown, Clinique, Estee Lauder and La Mer products. It was extremely naughty of Estee Lauder to spoil the ladies like this! :) But nobody’s complaining.
Get down to the new counters at Waterfront Edgars – they really are stunning! The lighting is so close to daylight you’ll get a good idea of how your makeup will actually look on your skin. They are also very spacious and well-organised. They get a manicured thumbs up from LA & SB.
So PD’s been nagging me to get some eyelash extensions for ages now. She comes back from her shopping trips to Dubai with fancy ideas in her head, which she then forces on us. While awkward at first, this almost always works out in our best interests (cases in point being laser hair removal, beeswax extensions for hair, bronzers of all kinds and Shiseido eye pens – ‘always go Jap for eye products’ -PD). I had these done at Mooi - it costs R690 for the full set, and then you go back for fillers every 6 weeks or so for R390 a session. Make sure you have time – it takes 2 hours to have a full set put in, but it’s very relaxing and not at all sore.
You can choose from 3 kinds of lash - acrylic, silk or mink. I went for acrylic as mink and silk are VERY soft – wait til you’re an extension pro before you go there. These acrylics are very easy wearing though – you just live your life as normal (showering, swimming, etc) and try not to rub your eyes. So far I’m loving not having to wear any eye makeup. Think I could get used to that. Plus they feel kinda nice. Like if you blink enough, you might just take off. And fly away. Far, far away.
What do you think? Nice for summer. Paired with gloss in Hollywood Red. Feels soft and smells like berries. I’m going to wear it with a white vest, blue Pepe skinnies, a pair of black D&Gs and nothing else.
