Couples golf lessons anyone? I think this would be a great gift! Plus Nige is a PGA professional with over 15 years experience. You’d definitely learn something.

retro Waddy Jones

retro waddy jones

Ryan’s swaggering around today wearing some retro Waddy Jones (aka NINJA from Die Antwoord). Miss u Waddy-before-you-became-a-zef-ninja-in-Die-Antwoord. Remember when he was on this cute plush toy dassie vibe? He made strange little toys like the ‘back to front bum demon’ – “with a bum for a face and a face for a bum” (quote, unquote). And yes, he really sewed them. Sweet man! And look how nice Yolandi looks too. No mooning. See ninja in action sewing soft toys below.

Very chilled here atop CR with a glass of Boschendal Bubbly

Ended the week at the 2oceansvibe and Goldfish party at Cape Royale’s Sky Bar. We drank Boschendal bubbly and bounced. We like Goldfish. They bring the happy vibes. Please, musicians – we love the happy vibe. Bring it.

Check out @GoldFishLive killing it yesterday at the @2oceansvibe party @cape_royale

We even had an extremely special moment where PD got to touch and pose next to 2oceansvibe’s very own TBG!!! It basically made her week. She’s still talking about it. Really, we are having trouble getting her to shut up! Look we don’t blame her. Just look at his loving, peaceful face. You can’t gaze upon it without feeling as if you’ve been ‘touched by a mangel’.

And suddenly there he was...

We spent a bit of time just chilling looking at the city from some pretty places.

A perfect evening

Fiddled around with some new Hipstamatic filters

rainbow city

Enjoyed watching Table Mountain play ‘the Volcano game’ - that’s always fun

Pretty city from the Green Point side

Ate dinner at Cafe Chic again – we really do love this spot. It’s in Breda Street in Gardens. It’s quiet and calm and plays French Cafe music and it has chandeliers everywhere – what’s not to like??

At Cafe Chic again. Love.

PD and I also did a weekend workout at Wembley and then grabbed sushi and danced to Usher’s Top 10 at our table. Note: AT our table. Not ON our table. Big difference. Nice weekend all!

Late Sunday post-workout sushi with PD

CTG has a special mention today…

We don’t normally do this, but we’d like to give a special shout-out to Vince from North Carolina in the US of A, who is a General in the Corps Marines (in which he’s been serving for 12 years now). We hear Vince recently came to South Africa for a holiday, and that he loves it. A little birdie told us that he quite likes reading CTG, too. Well, we’re sending the love right back at you, Vince! Please give little Sophia Grace a big hug and a kiss for us, okay? She is just too beautiful. When she’s a bit older, we’ll take her out and show her how to be a CapeTownGirl ;) Thanks for reading CTG, we appreciate your support.

Much love, CTG, PD & LA

the best of the seaside this summer

19 Jan 2011, Posted by Cape Town Girl in CTG, LA, PD, beach, cape town, lifestyle, 1 Comments

We had a great summer. Apart from The Great Separation when PD was in Dubai and LA was in Japan, we spent a lot of time on the beach. We got a lot of sun, and we swam. We discovered Piz Buin Active Spray, which is non-sticky and doesn’t come off when you sweat (discovered that while running with it on – if you’re into outdoor exercise you’ll know how important this is, and how suntan lotion in the eyes can make you cry like a baby – not attractive). We read some great books – Born To Run and Up In The Air – dedicated reviews to come. But for now let’s just do a bit of a beach round up.

Glen beach right now

Glen aka the 'Surfer's Beach'

It's a tough life

Glen again. Or Llandudno? It becomes a beachy blur...

Miss u promenade

The end of Sea Point Promenade towards Bantry Bay

Gloomy beauty sea sunset

This gloomy beauty was taken in Hermanus.

Quite pretty here

And this splendour is Pringle Bay.

I think it’s safe to say we ‘won at summer’.

Last minute Christmas shopping

Christmas shopping done. Such nice stuff @rhubarbroom :) will take you @cheKershaw

Mine was all done at Rhubarb Room. They have the best wrapping paper and strings and candy canes and stickers, and all sorts of other wonderful things to make your gifts look better than they are, even if they are awesome.

Avoid the malls. And the screaming children. And the defensive mothers. And the calamari smell coming out of Pick ‘n Pay.

Of course, malls serve their purpose. We hit the malls AFTER Christmas. For the sales.

Merry Merry all.

why you should go see the giant Christmas Cracker at the Waterfront

Because you’ll be able to purchase a pair of SA-made leather shoes to donate to a child who needs them from Bob Is For Good – the foundation run by SA Rugby legend Bob Skinstad. Click here to read up about the good work the foundation is doing. I’m buying a pair of shoes for everyone in my family to donate to kids who need them as Christmas gifts this year.

There’s all sorts of stuff happening at the Waterfront as usual, but another thing you should probably go check out would be the Ice Rink! Um, yes please! It’s by the Mugg & Bean and it’s inside a giant inflatable cube – you can’t miss it. It’s R50 and it closes at 10pm. We took a little spin on the ice over the weekend, and fell on our asses. But that is part of the fun! As is being dragged off the ice by irate parents who worry you’re going to crash into their small children who are pushing training seals around the ice. This is what life is about, friends.

How cute are those seals? Bless. How can you NOT go and push a seal around?

Has started. I have evidence. Exhibit A:

It's snowing in Cape Town... Snowing sunshine & awesomeness!

Exhibit B:

Blood orange sunset

Do we really need more proof??

Go to the beach.

Now.
