Love that Tiffany & Co commissioned power blogging couple Garance Dore & the Sartorialist to shoot images for their ‘True Love is Everywhere’ campaign. Very pretty, lovely feeling to all of them. Plus their third-party perspective brought something fresh to the Tiffany work. Great idea on behalf of the brand by playing to the bloggers’ strengths, namely photography. I see a lot of brands putting bloggers in ads, making them talk and sing and dance and host evenings when really, bloggers are bloggers. Let them do what they do best.
PS. I’ll bet Tiffany paid them to take part in this campaign. And rightly so. That’s called a ‘blogger budget’. And it’s real!
“Turning goth will work. The ANC will be all like “What music are you listening to?” and the entire country will be like “SHUTUP YOU’RE NOT EVEN MY REAL DAD!” and we’ll run to our room and slam the door shut.” -@pleasefindthis
Are you wearing black today to show that you oppose the protection of informationprotection of corrupt government officials act? Do you think it will help? Will journos end up being no more than ‘repressed mouthpieces for a corrupt regime’?
WILL BLOGGERS HAVE TO SAVE THE DAY VIA NOT BEING OFFICIALLY JOURNOS?
If you are called…WILL YOU BE READY?????
Seriously though… let’s do some breathing exercises to ‘get through Black Tuesday’:
BB chatted very openly about a bunch of things, some a bit naughty to repeat here, others less so including how he doesn’t consider himself to be a brand and thus will not be designing his own ranges with fashion labels (missed opportunity sad face) and also how he doesn’t think labels are important (tres capetonian – you can spot a Joburger by the size of their labels). He also spoke about ‘tweet regret’ and about how he doesn’t like to be a ‘hater’ anymore online, agreeing that being bitchy online tends to make you look rather bitter and pathetic since, as he says, it’s all out there in the open and once you put it out there, it’s permanent – defs a lesson a few tweeties could learn here in SA.
A huge thanks to Sunglass Hut for bringing him out here and Marie Claire for facilitating the process – definitely two world-class brands who’re in touch with what’s happening.
PS. Have you seen the new summer stock at Sunglass Hut? Some DIVINE stuff! Like these red and white checked D&Gs. LOVE!
Get in the mood for the BryanBoy workshop brought to us bySunglassHut andMarie Claire tomorrow with this cool interview with him (thanks Zoopy). Big Ups to CTG’s iPhone sponsor MTN - you got an international celeb fashion blogger dropping the ol’ Ayoba!

Winners will be Announced at Mid Day Monday 29 Aug.
If you aren’t acquainted with Bryan Boy like, where have you been????? He’s “Marc Jacob’s favourite blogger” happarently! And Marie Claire and Sunglass Hut are bringing him to Cape Town and Joburg to give blogging seminars. So exciting! So THERE! Here’s what the world says about Bryan Boy:
“Internationally-loved fashion superblogger.” – New York Times/T Magazine – The Moment, February 2009
“With his sharp wit and cheeky style choices, Manila-based blogger Bryan Boy is on the brink of international stardom. He’s already captured the attention of designer Marc Jacobs, who named a bag from his Fall ’08 collection after him, and we’re sure that this (19-year-old) internet star is well on his way to fashion fame.” – Teen Vogue, February 2009
“Blogs for Brilliant Minds. [Marc] Jacobs’ favourite blog, Bryan Boy, a deliciously funny read obsessed with all things fashion.” – Conde Nast Portfolio, April 2008
Have you heard about Name Your Hood? It’s this very cool initiative where we, as Capetonians, get to give your favourite areas cool names. For example take New York’s Tribeca - which comes from Triangle Below Canal street. Or Soho, The Bronx... there’s loads of examples. Just watch this neat little video to find out a bit more about how those names came to be and how it works. Now we can differentiate between the various little areas within the city instead of saying vaguely ‘city bowl’, etc.
Name Your Hood Cape Town launches officially on the 30th June, and from 4th July you will be able to submit your names. Click here to find out how to do it. Awesome, right?
This is Sonya. She travelled across South Africa with a backpack and R100 for just under a year. During that time she stayed with over 150 families, who all took her in and helped her out of the goodness of their hearts. I think that’s amazing. She’s currently writing a book about her adventure. Click here to read more about her travels, and click here to follow her on twitter.
Please enjoy the new additions to my home, namely the pink lawn flamingoes and a cat and a dog. Those are all the changes I am making for now though as I would like to upgrade my home and maybe put in an extra candy room. Renovations, baby.
