PD sent through some of what she is ‘dealing with’ right now over in the shopping mecca that is Dubai. Allow me to share. Above would be the Giorgio Armani hotel – everything about it is ‘pure Armani’. Yes, we like Dubai. It’s like a huge beach with shopping malls all over it. What’s NOT to love?

Above is a restaurant called Switch. It’s designed by hipster designbro Karim Rashid. Strange. Pretty.

Shoes… yes.

Loads of natural shopping mall beauty.

Shoes. Yes. Yes, again.

Skyline…

“Is this a Lanvin I see before me????”

Madonna. I’d expect nothing less. Sad it’s come to an end. We like it here. We want to stay. I’ll be posting more of PD ‘Postcards from Dubai’ over the next few days.

Similar concept to the Daddy Long Legs / Grand Daddy Boutique art hotels here, except the extreme luxury version, these are pics from the Seven Hotel in Paris.

We particularly love the levitation vibe in the last room :)

Where I like to chill on summery mornings with some coffee and a rusk.
Just wanted to show you one of my houses. This one is called the Wide Open Villa and it’s designed by Klab Architects in Greece. They did a good job, yes?

Very inspiring site to come home to after a hectic afternoon of lingerie fittings.

This is where me & my family like to chill. That's why it's totally casual and low-key.

Nice and white. We like our neutrals. Just call it iFlat (lols). Sometimes we play basketball off that top wall.

My indoor pool - where I like to just 'float around on the pool noodle and think about life'.
Pretty nice hey? Yeah it’s just a little summin we keep around for summer. I was thinking we should maybe get some kind of brightly coloured ’statement art piece’ for the lounge. Maybe a nice print of Warhol’s Marilyn, or something else classy like that.

To form a part of 'the landscape of your home.'
Are there are any Athlone Cooling Tower Fanatics out there? Because if so, this should go down a treat. Monday Design and Gregor Jenkin design studios have designed a limited edition Athlone Cooling Towers Salt & Pepper set for you to have in your home, by which you can remember the towers. What do you think of them? Will you miss the towers enough to get a set? They’re only making 50 of them so if you want a pair, get in fast.

I’d be New York Girl. Eating New York macarons. Lounging around in New York lingerie. And living in this amazing house, which can be found on Shelter Island in New York.

Quite bright, but I once read that exposing yourself to different colours is as important as eating different types of food. Did you know that? Apparently if you live and work in a fairly neutral / monochromatic environment, you start to get comfortable with feeling neutral feelings, you get attached to routine and start struggling with things like change, or meeting new people. Sounds plausible. Okay can I move into this pretty house now?

Muizenberg promenade: like Sea Point, only less crowded
would be to go spend a few hours in Muizenberg, on the beachfront. Scoff if you like, but on a wintery Sunday, with equal parts cloud and bright white sunshine and steak roll from Empire Cafe, you’d be having quite a good time, that I can promise. Knead seems to have single-handedly rejuvenated the area, something they must be given credit for. We went for a stroll along the ‘promenade’ aka Muizenberg pavillion. The deserted water slides and the dilapidated council buildings verge on magical.

Some very lonely and chilly-looking paddling pools

Mark and Jo have been decorating a caravan for the Old Mac Daddy Elgin Hotel, the countryside cousin of the Grand Daddy in town, and theirs is called Dirkie Sanchez. Mark is pictured above. He’s a ‘method designer’. Below is the design Rikus did for one of the pull-down blinds in the caravan.

It’s all looking pretty rad! Track their progress here.
Discovered on the facebook profile of my fave PhotoBro aka Lyall Coburn, this shoe by United Nude actually triggered a physical reaction in me. I mean, look at it:

And get this - rockstar architect Rem Koolhaas is partly responsible for it! Now I only know who Rem Koolhaas is because at college Captain Jennifer held a party with the theme Gods & Godesses, and while most people came swathed in sheets dressed as Zeus or variations thereof, Kevball (an architect) came as Rem Koolhaas, “The God of Architecture”, sporting a setsquare and a pencil behind his ear.

Love how Rem sees the world. What a treat. The question is, how to get one’s hands on a pair of United Nudes in Cape Town?
