Just getting in the mood for joining PD in St Tropez. Pretty hey? It’s called a Riva. And they’re handcrafted pieces of beauty.

Mmmmm. Leather seats, lacquered, hand-worked wood… Nice gift for a dad who’s already got the bottle of [ your premium whisky brand here] yes?

Super pretty. Below is Bridget Bardot taking ‘the junior’, one of the smaller models, for a spin.

Yay! A decade of good coffee. No complaints. Can you believe they now have over 50 stores ALL OVER THE WORLD , even in the UK and Angola. Not sure what the MMXI stands for, but the sound I make after I take the first sip of my latte is something like that… Mmmmmxixixixixixixxiiiiiiii

Birthday mwazzles to the Vida team. Obrigado!

Escape 2 Evolve – fitness holidays that get you in shape

12 Sep 2011, Posted by Cape Town Girl in food, south africa, the run diaries, things to do, weekends, 0 Comments

I just love this idea. Escape2EvolveAfrica is a company that runs holiday bootcamps where you go away and fill your days with active, outdoor adventures and healthy eating, to get your body and mind in shape. The Base Camp is in Pringle Bay situated within the Kogelberg Biosphere and nature reserve, so you’ve got beaches and mountains and forest terrain in which to play while you focus on getting fit.

This sort of thing is awesome as a kickstart after, say, having a kid, or maybe you just fell of the healthy wagon and want to get back on. Or maybe, like me, you think the idea of going away for a week of varied, outdoor exercise and healthy eating sounds like a whole lot of fun. Click for more.

It’s a bit delayed but just got hold of premium publication Live Out Loud and loved the feature on renowned ‘macaronerie’ (I just made that up – think it works?) Daniela’s. Daniela’s created the Cape Town Girl macaron, which she talks about at length in the interview. Daniela’s also made the MOST incredible macaron cake for my birthday. Did you see it? Clicky. Still makes me shiver with pleasure when I think about it.

It’s the Rugby World Cub!

love this look

Am generally a fan of anything that makes me look like a Siamese Cat (so dark brown and cream, black and cream, black and nude). Love the fun skirt and the loose black shirt. Love these shades! Might have to get a pair. Source lookbook

Chef’s Table at the Table Bay – should be good!

09 Sep 2011, Posted by Cape Town Girl in CTG, Parties, cape town, drink, food, hotels, restaurants, south africa, 0 Comments

Looking forward to this event at the Table Bay Hotel. So far I’ve eaten about 500 Lindt Balls and drunk a bottle of champagne and I haven’t even got to the Table Bay yet, so things are looking good. First we’ll be picked up  in a limo then we’ll be taught how to make all manner of delicious things while taking part in our own cooking show (literally a life-long dream of mine – been telling everyone, my hair is longer than Nigella’s so I’m definitely a better cook) and then we’ll ’suffer’ through a wine-tasting at the Atlantic Grill (what a tragedy) and then we’ll sample a few of the whiskies and cognacs at the Union Bar (love me a single malt).

to read up more about who’ll be attending it with me, you can click here. Looking forward to having CTG’s Official Wine Expert along. Should be hilarious!

Elizabeth Galloway Cape Cobra Allure Collection Launch

Blogged earlier about going to the Cape Cobra ‘Allure’ Collection launch, all purses and bags designed by alumni of the Elizabeth Galloway Fashion Academy. Went with frangipanies, writer of openwardrobe.co.za, and we had a series of leatherleptic fits over how beautiful some of the items were. Vanessa Haywood hosted the evening and Kluk CGDT designed the beautiful dresses. Some utterly stunning stuff, highlights below:

Just love this cream python exotic. Stunning. Note: no endangered animals are used in sourcing their leathers. See below for more details.

Gorgeous metallic number. Cape Cobra are 100% ethical in their leather sourcing, from their website:

PS A few people have mailed me saying ‘I have never heard of Cape Cobra’. You probably would not have, since the average bag costs 40k up (that’s about 4 x LVs) and they are largely known for supplying designers such as DKNY and Calvin Klein with the leather for their handbags. So now you know!

Just too beautiful and simple. Love that there’s no huge branding, just utter quality. More to come, meanwhile if you’d like to go check out a few exotic pieces head over to the Cape Cobra Showroom at 4th Floor Hill House 43 Somserset Road Green Point.
