fashionistas: CTG needs YOUR help

With the SA Blog Awards barely 2 weeks away I must appeal to you all for your help URGENTLY with a very pressing issue. Pepe Jeans have kindly offered me a dress for the awards show, and we narrowed down the options to the following three, but I love all three so would like your opinion on which one to wear. These are the dresses:

The Gisella

Option 1 is the Gisella, which I love because it’s a one-shoulder and you know how I feel about those. I also love the colour, it’ll work with my hair and my skin tone and purple leopard print is super on trend at the moment. The frill is fun too and reminds me of this dress I wore for another shoot, and absolutely adore. I’d wear it with a pair of super high snakeskin platforms or a nude cuffed heel or other suitably neutral shoes and either pour on the gold accessories, or wear a simple gold bangle with Russian Red lips.

Red Lips

Gold accessories

Nude heels

Option 2 is a strong contender. I love the colours, it’s fun, it’s sexy, it’s summery (hope it’s warm on the night), and it’s got a slight exotic feel to it. It can be dressed up and down – I love dressing up casual dresses for glam events since am never a fan of looking like I tried too hard.

Option 2: The Rita

I’d probably go for shaggy big hair and some leather platforms, and either a white or gold clutch purse. It probably will be a little cold so I’d take a glittery shrug or shawl. Earrings would be big and gold with a bit of colour – possibly orange. Bronzed cheeks and smokey eyes for makeup. What do you think?

Leather gladiator heels

Gold & orange earrings

And then Option 3 is a Goddess / Maxidress, another style I love love love. You know you’ll have a good night in a Goddess dress because it’s comfortable and flattering and sexy all at once – it’s basically a sure thing.

Option 3: The Sabine

Unlike the model I would definitely use the opportunity to party in flats (I mean come on! It almost never arises) and I’d go for some simple gold gladiator-inspired sandals, with a dark red pedicure. I’d also go for a chunky ’statement necklace’, and it would probably also be gold. I’d take the top of my hair up and muss up whatever’s down so it’s casual but still quite pretty. I might even trim a cute bouncy fringe. I might throw in a wooden bangle as well, but would keep makeup quite light and summery. Just some bronzer and neutral lips.

Gold strappy sandals

Chunky wooden bracelet

Big chunky necklace

What do you guys think? Which dress – 1, 2 or 3? Would appreciate any and all input – any suggestions you have about how to wear them would be great too. Gosh – decisions!

I say option number 3. I <3 maxi dresses and it's perfect for a fresh Spring night. Plus you'll look all goddessy when it flutters around you as you go up to receive your reward (and zero chance of flashing anyone)

I also say option 3. Loving the look, and I want a pair of those flat gladdies!

You could really complete the whole gladiator look and do something completely different – a french braid in your hair with loose tassels coming out of the sides and the bottom.

What do you think?

Option one for sure! I’ll make a statement in that one-shoulder dress!! And you can never go wrong with nude heels!

Enjoy the show and remember to post pics!

Oooh, ooh! And big hooped gold earrings would do wonders with the braided hair. Very swash!

Braided hair is a very interesting suggestion... i've got it down. Are we talking pocahontas braid, or 'lost in a forest' mini braids in amongst normal hair?

CTG, Option 1 actually scares me. Option 2 is getting warmer. Option 3 is the warmest but does it not work with heels? Although, I imagine this is the type of event where you can pull off flats?

For interests sake… Have you ever tried a tailored trouser with one of those Carletina Tops?

Me thinking definately option 3.. and also likingh the plait idea but little ones amongs the hair..

I reckon it’ll make you feel like a princess and be comfortable at the same time, an oppertunity to wear flats is always a good option..

Have fun and enjoy the night!

Option 1 or Option 3. You’re going to want to feel glamorous.

If you opt for 3 you could do a thick french/american-indian side-braid along your hair line, framing your face before falling loosely down. and do a gold/orange high-lighted beauty eye with some false lashes and glossy lips.

If you go for 1 the dark smokey eye will work fabulously with your rouge lip. xx

Oh my - 'a beauty eye' - I might need your help SLKaye...

Option 3 without a doubt! :) I would suggest hair long and sleak with some waves.

Ahem

“never a fan of looking like I tried too hard” well with a blog post to help you decide what to wear 2 weeks before the event looks to me like you are trying quite hard, me dear.

Cape Town Girl September 14 2010 16:36 pm

I meant with regards to what I'm wearing, Ruthie. Must I make that sentence easier for you to understand?

September 14, 2010 4:35 pm

Giselle

you’ve got to wear my namesake – no option, you’ll feel younger cos it’ll remind young times

Cape Town Girl September 14 2010 16:36 pm

hehe - you have a strong argument Gissie!

September 14, 2010 4:48 pm

Ahem

No I understand thx. It’s just a public blog post on what to wear so as not too look like you tried to hard even though you are seems strange. But I do get that the “Oh I just threw this on” look is quite hard to achieve and sometimes needs to be planned beforehand but then if you going to truly pull it off you have to keep the planning side to yourself. Am I making any sense maybe not :)?

Definitely option 3. mmm… Do you like the Kardashian’s style? maybe middle path and wavy.(with your dark, long hair that will look amazing.) Love the idea of the gladiator’s – the gold is perfect!!! Thanx for the Pepe Jeans invite on FB***

If you need help I’m happy to paint your face for ya (you’ve already got the lash box.)
I can do the side-braid hair thing for you too.

The sketch of the Giselle does not do that dress justice! It’s a tough one between all three, but for this event I’m loving Option One! Maybe link the photo you took of it?

I love option 3 and those sandles are stunning! Very springy :)
Braided hair would look stunning but also just loose curls.

Klaudia

I love option one! purple is great colour for those of us with dark hair :) and love the nude heel with it!

September 15, 2010 11:07 am

Lynette

Option three, with loose, dishevelled Alexander Wang-esque plaits! Do it! ;)

Option three (from a guys point of view you will look stunning in this)… I was set on option one at 1st, but when I read the comments about the plait coming from the side, I caught the vision. Spring has just begun and that dress definitely gives you an amazing, flowing, springy feel. Love the natural bronzed makeup idea – always helps with the “didn’t try too hard for this fab outfit” vibe!
Gladiator flats.. different, I’m sure you could pull it off.
Lots of gold is a real goodie!
