Guys, do you ever feel empty for no reason? Kinda like something is wrong, but you don’t know what it is? Your life is great, but you feel dissatisfied? Even after you’ve eaten an entire box of macarons from Cassis? That empty feeling comes from a massive HOLE in your SOUL that exists because you’re not doing something to give back to your community / people less fortunate / the planet / etc. Seriously, I’m not joking. This sounds quite deep but really what I’m doing here in explaining the human condition in 100 words or less. You can thank me later.

And if you don’t have the occasional hole in your soul you’re probably a psychopath.. (miss you Pat Bateman).

Anyway, I would like to bring to your attention an easy way to plug that hole, at least for a while. Sunglass Hut have commissioned the social development project Streetwires to produce 1 000 beaded wayfarer sunglasses in the colours of selected teams’ flags. Each pair are uniquely numbered and signed by the person who made them, so handing over a mere R150 in exchange for a pair seems like a small thing to ask. R70 of each pair sold will be donated to OneSight, a charity that supplies basic eyecare to thousands in need. Vision seems a strange thing to think about, but the reality is a lot of people in this world need some kind of visual aid, and for most people, a pair of glasses costs more than a month’s salary. So any contributions to this campaign will benefit somebody in some way. You’ll find the glasses in Sunglass Hut stores across the country.

I’ll be attending the launch of the Totally Wired range on Wednesday night 9 June (that’s this Wednesday, to you), where the hilarious Nic Rabinowitz be hosting a fundraiser auction where some special edition Totally Wired sunglasses will be auctioned off to the highest bidders.
